BioBTX participates in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 backed research and innovation project iCAREPLAST. iCAREPLAST aims to convert non-recyclable composites and plastics into high-value chemicals, with a focus on (alkyl)-aromatics. These aromatics are then used as raw materials for virgin-quality polymers or other processes.
Multiple conversion methods are explored within the iCAREPLAST project. BioBTX is mainly involved in the technological and technoeconomic evaluation of benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) production from (waste) plastics.
Our partners within iCAREPLAST: CSIC, Universitat Politècnica de València, Technische Universität Braunschweig, iPoint-Systems gmbh, Imperial College London, University of Twente, KERIONICS S.L., URBASER, S.A.
